Appearance

Theme
Accent colour

Sets the colour used across the site — buttons, the active sidebar item, focus rings and highlights. White is the default; the wordmark stays white either way.

Presets
Applies immediately. No reload needed.
Custom colour
Pick anything, or type a hex value like #ff9900.
Reset to default
Puts the accent back to white.
Background
Motion and effects

Turn these off to save battery, or if they get in the way.

Gradient background
The animated aurora behind every page. Falls back to a static gradient without WebGL.
Particles
Drifting dots layered over the background.

Privacy

Tab disguise

Change the tab's title and icon to blend in. Applies everywhere, and persists.

Choose Custom to write your own title and icon.
Panic
Panic key

Press the bound key and the whole tab leaves for the address below. It is ignored while you are typing in a text box, so a letter key is still safe to bind.

Cloaking
Open in about:blank

Runs desync inside a blank window so it leaves no trace in your browser history. Your browser may ask you to allow popups the first time.

about:blank is the usual choice; blob works where about:blank is blocked.

Ultraviolet is lighter and quicker to start. Scramjet handles modern sites better but is heavier. If a site misbehaves, try the other one.

Safety
Moderation and blocking

Public rooms are checked automatically before a message is shown to anyone. Direct messages are never sent to moderation — they are private, and unwanted DMs are handled by blocking instead.

Blocked people
Blocking is managed from a person's name in chat. A block hides their messages and stops their DMs reaching you.
